Sikaflex 290 DC

Sikaflex-290 DC is a one-part UV-resistant polyurethane based joint sealing compound specially formulated for caulking joints creating a tough, waterproof flexible bond between most materials, commonly used on traditional timber marine decking.

The Sikaflex deck caulking sealing compound cures to form a flexible elastomer which can be sanded. Sikaflex-290 DC is manufactured in accordance with the ISO 9001/14001 quality assurance system.

Product benefits:
– One-part formulation
– Non-corrosive
– Can be sanded
– Resistant to UV light and weathering
– Resistant to seawater and fresh water.

Areas of application:
Sikaflex-290 DC is used exclusively for the caulking of joints in traditional timber strip decking in boat and yacht building (secondary sealing).

Cure mechanism:
Sikaflex-290 DC cures by reaction with atmospheric moisture. At low temperatures the water content of the air is lower and the curing reaction proceeds more slowly.

Chemical resistance:
Sikaflex-290 DC offers an effective long-term resistance to fresh water, seawater, aqueous cleansing agents. The sealant is not resistant to solvents, concentrated acids, caustic solutions and chlorine containing cleaners. A brief contact with fuels or lubricants has no significant effect on the durability of the sealant.
